Best poke we had in Hawaii.  Generous portions of super fresh, well mixed poke.  They had so many choices of mixtures, so there's something for everyone here.

It was super packed when we got there, but as usual, there was no line behind us. Don't you hate when that happens?  We came here immediately after getting off the plane right at lunch time.  It was hot and sticky out, so some cool refreshing poke was the perfect choice of lunch.

The bowl was the perfect portion for myself, and my husband enjoyed the large portion of the plate.  I had the chef special of the day, which was my favorite (I believe it had onion and a seaweed that was similar to asparagus and was sweet and salty), and the wet Hawaiian which was my second favorite (I also tried my husbands flavors).  I prefer very light poke, rather than something covered in mayo, and these had a lot of great sesame flavor and was just classic, fresh poke.

Parking was a bit of a hassle but we lucked into a spot.. I think we just got there right at the wrong time.  The people serving the poke were friendly and worked quickly to get through that huge line.  There are a couple benches out front that you can share with others to sit and eat.

All in all, this tiny, hard to find shack is 100% worth a stop.

I made a point of hitting up as many Poke spots as I possibly could while I was here, I gotta say, this place was a tad over-hyped. It's really good, and probably the best I had in the Kona area, but I wouldn't say the quality went above and beyond anything I'd expect from any other poke shop around. Definitely above average, but don't expect it to blow you away unless it's your first time having good poke.

The location is also really inconvenient and annoying to get at.

Okay. Hear me out. If you see a line out the door. Its because the lady behind the counter is the only one serving the customers and the cashier. She takes about 5 min per customer so it takes about 1 hr for 20 ppl. If you want to get food and go then do not wait. It took us about 1 hr to get a bite at 2pm on a sunday. Be careful you've been warned.

Now again, here me out the cashier lady looks lovely and nice and theres nothing wrong with their food. But this is slow casual not fast casual.

I came into Da Poke Shack the first time at around 2:30/3pm-ish one afternoon. The line was almost out the door and as soon as I walked in, the lady who worked there announced to the whole line that they were almost out of poke and there probably wouldn't be enough for everyone in line.

I then came back the next day, much earlier, probably around 11am. There was plenty of poke to choose from and I was one happy gal.

Fantastic place. My foodie friend recommended this place and it was the bomb! We came here right after we landed on the island. Super fresh fish, perfectly seasoned, beautiful sushi rice. Best poke I have ever tasted anywhere.

They get the fish fresh everyday. Only yellowtail tuna is served. They close at 5pm, and only limited section is available after 2pm. We came at 1pm on Saturday during summer and the wait wasn't bad.

The best way to order is to tell the server what type of poke you like. For me, I like poke that is NOT too salty (no shoyu for me), or too sweet. And the server proceeded to pick the best 2 pokes for my taste.

My poke bowl was served with wet Hawaiian (savory, not too salty, plenty of umami) and chef's inspiration of the day (a bit spicy-ness and a little bit of salty sweetness). Served with cucumber and sushi rice. The cucumber is nice and crunchy and a bit spicy. The sushi rice was cooked perfectly, soft yet with structure - I had to try hard to pick up every kernel of rice at the end because it's THAT good. Divine!!!!

We had the local kombucha with ginger tumeric - excellent with the poke! Sit outside under the  at the community table and you will be happy that you came.
